The codename of the project was his only name: '0808191 Ramses'. He was supposed to be a clone of Cain and an artificial Contact, and near the end of his ten years of development in the tube, he was capable of complex thought, and understanding what was said to him (or about him). When Miang appeared in Karen's body and convinced Krelian to throw Ramses away, their casual disposal of him as trash permanently impacted his self-image. Once he was out of the nanoreactor and thrown away, Ramses grew very fast. His physical growth rate was nothing short of miraculous, but his emotional maturity couldn't keep up, and continued to evolve at a normal rate. While in the lower levels he came across a boy named Kahran Bekka, on his way to attend Jugend. Ramses killed him and stole his ID card, then used his persona to get into Jugend himself. There he met Hyuga, Sigurd, and Jesse, and became involved in the Elements group. In the game Hyuga and Sigurd say they were attracted to Kahr's high ideals. He wanted to eliminate the class distinction in Solaris and give all citizens an equal opportunity to rise in society, probably because he himself had to claw his way up the social ladder without any help. He wanted people to be judged on their skill, not their birth. But he also had an overwhelming urge to prove himself, to gain more power, and this took precedence over his attempts to make Solaris a better place. Sigurd defected partially because of this, and left Ramsus feeling very betrayed. But never daunted, he continued to rise in Gebler's ranks with Miang's support, and later recreated the Elements with Kelvena, Dominia, Seraphita, and Tolone, all victims he saved from experimentation or other, harsher fates. Unfortunately, Ramsus's rise to power also left him more vulnerable to the machinations of Krelian and the Ministry. They constantly used his low self-esteem to drive him down the path of their choosing, which was supposed to eventually destroy Cain. Three years before the game he led the strike against Elru, and was injured there by the Contact - another element that contributed to his all-consuming sense of failure. That incident, and moreso the conversation he heard in Krelian's laboratory before his birth, contributed to his insane grudge against Fei. At the start of the game, Ramsus commands Gebler, holds a prominent position in the governmental hierarchy of Solaris, and holds the rank of Guardian Angel. He and Miang preside over Aveh when necessary.
