Thanks again to Yasuko ^_^) Regular speech is typed straight. Thoughts are in (...) Sound effects/handwritten text is in <...> p.95. Sigurd: Eh? Shitan: I said, what did you feel when you left Solaris? Sigurd: ... I simply couldn't lie about my own feelings anymore. Shitan: Heh. Thats just like you. Bart: Oi! Sensei! p.96. Bart: I don't know whats with this old friendship or whatever it is, but theres no way I'll let you get Sig mixed up in anything strange. Sigurd: Young Master! Shitan: A good child isn't he, your Young One. Bart: Don't treat me like a kid! Shitan: I envy you, Sigurd. Sigurd: Hyuga? Shitan: (To act on ones own feelings...?) (If only it were possible...) Emperor: Then, as expected, the contact really is the vessel of the "Destroyer of God"? p.97 Shitan: Yes, it is most probable. (But I saw...) (No.) (I knew, but I was turning my eyes from the truth.) (Weren't his eyes exactly the eyes of the "Destroyer of God"?) Emperor: Well then, Hyuga. Shitan: Yes sir. (I can't keep overlooking this any longer.) p.98 Shitan: Forgive me, Fei. (why...?) p.99 Shitan: (Why must it be this boy?) Fei: Why don't you do it, Sensei? I'm the person who's cursed to destroy God, right? So theres nothing to worry about is there? Shitan: Fei... Fei: Ah! Its not that I'm getting careless or anything. Its just that up to now I've just been running away... But... Its like recently I've finally become able to face myself... Perhaps I'm growing up a little. p.100 Fei: So... If my death alone means everyone can live in peace, then thats what I want. Shitan: (Ah...) (I want to believe it.) Fei: Sensei? Sensei! Shitan: (This boy's strength of spirit, that he would even end his own life... I want to protect that precious thing...) (Even if I make an enemy of God.) I'm sorry... When you get older like me, tears come easier... Pointess obsessy translation notes: (For those who care, or the very bored) 1) The title. "The Wherabouts of Immorality" is literally what it said... but perhaps "Immorality's Path", "The Place Immorality Has Gone" might have been closer the mark.. 2) I wasn't happy with the first couple of lines between Sigurd and Hyuga. To me it looks like Sigurd isn't actually answering Hyuga's question properly. "What did you feel when you left Solaris?" "I simply couldn't lie about my own feelings anymore". (Yes, Sigurd, thats WHY you left, but WHAT did you FEEL, eh??) But the lines as I put them really are what they're saying - both in meaning and literally I think (And please correct me if I'm wrong here. ^^). As far as I know, this kind of answering someone's question as if they'd asked a slightly different one is perfectly fine in Japanese. 3) Hyuga's last thoughts. The sentence I translated as "This boy's strength of spirit, that he would even end his own life... I want to protect that precious thing..." in fact lacked the "I want to protect that precious thing" part :P. The sentence stops half finished on the Japanese particle "wo", which marks (in this case I think) the whole of the first half as the object of the sentence. I am assured by Yasuko that to any Japanese person reading, it would be blatently obvious that the following omitted part of the sentence would express Hyuga's desire to cherish, preserve, treasure, "make precious" or venerate that truly special thing. Of course it wasn't at all obvious to me so I had to take her word for it ^_^.
