[A correct translation is available here.]
Hyuga was born as a Third-class citizen of Solaris, the youngest of nine children. I assume his childhood was unremarkable (in terms of slavery, anyway) until he was thirteen; a plague swept the slave blocks of Solaris and killed his family, and he was left alone for two years until he surprised everyone by discovering the cause and source of the plague. Even Solaris can't turn down a genius, Lamb or not, so Hyuga was sent to Jugend when he was fifteen.
At Jugend, Hyuga shared a dorm with Sigurd (and now you know where all of those yaoi fics come from). Although only Sigurd was directly sponsored by Jesiah, Hyuga's extreme intelligence earned him a place in the new group Jesiah created: the Elements. Ramsus joined them, and the four became fast friends. But Hyuga's accomplishments didn't stop there. During his time as an Element (and a long time after), he also designed Sigurd's optical whip, the four gears used by the next generation of Elements (Marinebasher, Skyghene, etc.), Wyvern, Shakhan's gear, and Jesse's gear. He also worked on the teams developing Achtzehn and Vierge, and the gears Elly's strike team pilot, and perfected the Aerod system. The Perfect Works goes out of its way to emphasize Shitan's incredible intelligence.
After Sigurd and Jesse left Solaris, around the time he turned twenty, Hyuga became one of Soolaris's Guardian Angels, employed directly by Emperor Cain and the Gazel Ministry. Many of the projects listed above were probably developed at this time while working closely with Krelian. The book doesn't really say much about this, since things were pretty quiet after his friends left.
When Hyuga was twenty-two, he was given command of the Third Invasion of Shevat. His goal during this mission isn't clear, but he infilterated the city and was on his way to success until he was confronted my Shevat's premier warrior - Yui. She defeated him and the Solarian forces withdrew, but Hyuga was kept behind, and his injuries were tended. Yui's mercy paved the way for them to fall in love, and when Cain told him to stay in Shevat, they were married. (The PW also emphasizes how deeply Hyuga loves Yui - I guess he's not the type to give his heart away easily.) Midori was born two years later.
Two years after Midori's birth Hyuga received a new set of orders from Cain: he was to descend to the surface and take up residence in a town called Lahan, and keep an eye on Fei while he was there. An epidemic of flu (conveniently timed to his arrival) gave him the opening he needed to establish himself as a doctor and make his home there - he lives at the top of the mountain north of Lahan with Yui and Midori, who accompanied him to the surface. The townspeople know Shitan as a kind, maybe scatterbrained inventor, and generally a fun-loving guy. That may be true, but his duty as Cain's Guardian Angel takes precedence over everything, even his family, and this is reflected in the events of the game.

Yui Uzuki
|
Yui is the granddaughter of Sage Gaspar, and a Shevat native. She is a kind and intelligent woman, but her soft exterior hides a (frightening) skill with a sword and a will to use it. She is Shevat's premier warrior, and during the Third Invasion of Shevat she defeated Hyuga in combat and took him as her prisoner. But instead of killing him she treated his injuries, and this led them to fall in love. She accompanied Shitan when he descended to earth on Cain's orders, and took the people of Lahan to Shevat when their town was destroyed.
These two seem to have a rare understanding. It would be impossible for Shitan to hide all of his purpose from her, and yet she stays with him anyway, even knowing he is still working for Solaris. Considering Shevat's very anti-Solaris attitude, I think this is a prime example of just how much they love each other.
And for the record, the Perfect Works says nothing about what happened to Yui on the second disc as far as I know, so don't ask. ^.^

Midori Uzuki
|
Midori has followed in her father's footsteps with another extraordinary talent - telepathy. She isn't even six yet, but she knows the details of her father's mission, she sees the different personalities within Fei, and she can talk to animals. It's probably because of this talent that she hardly ever says anything out loud. And as the game progresses, she demonstrates a level of understanding that is far beyond her age. She probably inherited her father's extreme intelligence.
