This gear is a prototype from Nikolai's (or more correctly, Solaris's) laboratory. Most people notice during the game that Maria never actually enters her gear, and no one really knows how she pilots it. (Wacky physics. Gotta love it.) But we know her father was working on a way to merge biological and mechanical elements to create gears with superior response - it's safe to assume Seibzehn and Maria are a result of that research. She probably aligns directly with the gear somehow, like the other characters do with their omnigears. Contrary to popular belief, Seibzehn is not an omnigear, nor was it ever meant to become one.
