Alright, we do know that Deus was the interplanetary attack system... apparently designed to take over planets single handedly. However, what was it doing on the Eldrige? The Eldrige APPEARED to be a colony ship, considering its size and the number of people apparently onboard. So was Deus being disposed of, or being transported to be 'deployed' against a hostile planet to prepare it for the passengers?

My theory on the entire 'Elly/Miang' idea is that Dues needed some form of interation system to communicate with its creators. I've heard Miang refered to as the 'Herald of Deus'... perhaps she was designed to allow Deus to interact with its creators and scout out new targets? And Elly was designed to oversee the reconstruction of the planet after Deus destroyed all of the native life?

Of course, Deus obviously went haywire. It wanted to attack a planet that was obviously important to its creators, and tried to take over the Eldrige in order to do so. When the captain destroyed the Eldrige, Deus was heavily damaged.

And like the Adam in... Hmm, I believe that it is Paradise Lost, or Ishtar, I can't remember which. In any case, Deus's creations become greater than itself, and thus become independent from Deus's control.

Only the beings closest to Deus, the ones that were untouched by the Zohar Modifier, were the ones that remained true to their origional function: to repair Deus. So are Miang, Cain, and the Gazel Ministers simply elaborate contructions, running off of predetermined programs that will assist in the reconstruction of Deus?

(A note on Abel... personally, I DON'T think that Abel was the first Contact. Mainly because of this... when Cain kills Elly the first time, when she is running with Abel, he is already old and weakened, while Abel and Elly are obviously aroung 18, like most of the other Contact/Anti-type pairs. Thus, the first contact either died on the Eldrige, or survived to help Miang/Elly [still the same being at that point] recreated the first humans.)

Course, I could be wrong... any glaring holes in my argument?

ooooooh, more sides of the moon... argh.. my aching brain!

That Miang/Elly theory of yours seems very reasonable -- and it made me think again. Maybe you're right about them pre-programmed being scouts, maybe not. However, I remain with my theories.

Anyway, I hate to disagree in one part... but heh, it's the only one I think I'm pretty confident about.

The Eldridge carried civilians -- which would rid out your account of it being a battleship for Deus. Our primary theory was that the Eldridge carried people that would start a new colony since theirs was destroyed, and that the Deus that was contained were dismembered parts to be left in an unchartered region.

As for Cain's age in relation to the person with Elly -- it's possible that it was the same person who made contact with Zohar, since contact with Zohar gave him partial immortality. Also, notice the people carrying Cain -- I think those were the Gazel (or not? shrug), they look pretty much Fei's age, if not some years older. According to Myaru, Cain's face was like that eversince, so it might not be a good basis for age.

Also one point -- Abel and Elly were the first accounts of the Fei-Elly love affair. If the first contact wasn't Abel, then how could have the First Contact have descendants if he hasn't met up with Elly? By this first contact's time there wouldn't have been any woman except for Miang and Elly. I mean, he's the only survivor, and The Mother only gave birth to Cain and a dozen of more men. Elly was the best candidate to have a child with. So maybe this would mean that if Abel wasn't the first contact, then there was an earlier Elly prior to Abel's Elly?

OOh, my poor brain........ if only Square would release the true plot...

Hmm... I think you misunderstood me there. The Eldrige DID carry civilans... everyone necessary to create a new coloney AFTER Deus 'removed' the previous occupants of the planet. Cause if they were going to get rid of Deus.. why in the world would you just abandon something like THAT in the middle of nowhere, when it is clearly still active? ^~

True... or Square didn't feel like making a new sprite for a ten second scene. One of the two. ^^

Of course there was. It was Miang/Elly, the one that was sealed inside of Zohar that the first 'contact' saw on the Eldrige. As powerful as Miang is, she probably needed SOME help in creating the Gazel and Cain... otherwise all she is creating are clones of herself. And from what I can tell, there were no descendents from the first contact... The Gazel Minsitry, Cain, and the few women that Miang produced were the origional humans on the planet. (Actually, have Fei and Elly had ANY real kids that are admitted to in the game? Emeralda not counting as she was artifically created.) The Contact, Mother, and the Anti-type were simply possibilities that would arise every so often whenever a certain set of conditions were reached, or something like that. ^^

It isn't likely that they had children, except for their first incarnations. They always died before they had the chance, really. And they were about the same age as the Gazel -- maybe a bit older, considering, but......

Oh yes, this just came up in another conversation...... If you remember the navigator girls in the intro mentioning the "main planet" -- that would be Earth. Again, this is sort of off-topic, but..... it stands to reason that Deus would do what he could to get rid of his oppressors.

He obviously isn't all powerful, or he wouldn't have been in pieces in teh first place. If there were an equivilent of the Anti-type in existence..... perhaps that was the basis of the components used for Deus's Second Factor -- Elly/Miang.

Ah well. I'm just rambling now. Ja.
