"The Mother of Destruction..." , Sun 6 Aug 01:37

(This is inspired by Rune's "Awakenings, and Unlimited Power" topic. ^.^ But it's not as interesting.)

You might have noted that Grahf likes to bestow "the power of the glorious Mother of Destruction" upon his tools...

Miang seems to be the obvious choice, as far as who he's talking about. Elly doesn't have the desire to destroy things, after all. (Heh, and Miang has had ten thousand years to contemplate that pleasant thought...) This is assuming that he's not just making the line up because he likes intimidating speeches, of course...

The question is... why? They're serving his purpose, not her's -- unless Grahf is more of a lap dog than he looks. (Somehow I doubt that.) Why bestow her power, and not his own?

Technically, it's not theirs at all. ^.^

Grahf and Miang work together a /lot/ in the game - more than one might think on first glance. Do they share their purpose, does one serve the other...? All we know is that they have similar ultimate goals... Both of them want to end the cycle they've been put through, but they have very different ways of going about it. I see many, many personality clashes, and...

*cough*

Well, they have to have a reason for working together. ^_~ Even their differences in technique (the way Grahf handles Fei, the way Miang handles Ramsus and her 'children') seems to mesh alomost perfectly, when you look at the final product. They must have planned everything, and planned /for/ everything.

I just want to know why. ^.^ The /real/ 'why', not the details of their plans to revive Deus... something was motivating them to band together, and I'm sorry, but they have a /lot/ to hold against each other. Ancient grudges, years of facing each other from opposing sides... Miang's involvement in the deaths of various Ellys...

And all I can do is speculate, for now. Bah. ^_~

Well, they probably have their own, strictly logical reasons for working together, but an odd theory is this:

Grahf, since he's Lacan (sorta), is a dark version of Fei in a twisted way. Miang is most certainly Elly's darker half. Since Fei and Elly band together all the time, why shouldn't Grahf and Miang?

This makes more emotional sense than logical sense, but it could be _a_ reason. ~_^

You won't see me protesting this. Just look at the storylines Rune and I come up with. ^_~

Well with Grahf and speeches, you can never really know... after all, Grahf is very much the classic 'shadow anime villian'. Being on a high elevation than the heroes, mysterious name, and being able to pull a rather intimidating speech out of thin air... ^_-

Myaru is quite familiar with a good number of my theories for Grahf... then again, you also get a someone decent look at my theories in 'Reflections' and 'Shimigami'. Miang, who seems to show absoulte contempt for most of her 'allies', is actually polite to Grahf. And the ease with which everything seems to slip together through Grahf and Miang's combined actions simply smack of long range planning.

Grahf and Miang have good reason to NOT like each other... then again, they also have a good number of reasons to be on good terms as well. If not more.

We'll leave the fact that Miang IS Elly in a way... as well as Karen, who happens to be Khan's wife, who happens to be part of Grahf at the moment... out of this discussion for the moment.

But Amber does have a point about Miang and Grahf cooperating. If there ever was a degree of manipulation in their relationship, one thinks they would have overcome it a long time ago... neither of them are weak willed. Or idiots.

But thats just my speculation, so...

You know, speaking of manipulation....

Tehcnically speaking, once Lacan becomes Grahf, he and Miang are pretty much on equal ground -- meaning, they have the same knowledge of the cycle, because the Existece divulged all to Lacan... And Lacan had access, finally, to his hidden memories. So really, although Miang has more living experience... they would have found it hard to manipulate each other.

This does not mean, of course, that they didn't TRY. ^_~

But I think that, after the first few attempts, they both would have figured out that attempting to put a leash around the other wouldn't work. If nothing else, I think they would have began cooperating out of a careful, mutual respect.

I mean, it's not like only one of them has the power to level continents - they both do. ^.^ But that's almost irrelevant, I suppose... That would just mean they'd have to wait longer to get things over with.

Heh, but deviating to something else...

I notice that both Grahf and Miang also work rather cordially with Krelian... but while Miang likely doesn't have anything against him, I can't help but wonder about Grahf. It isn't exactly a secret that Krelian wants to merge with Elly... (And Miang by default, but I'll save /those/ freaky ideas for "Silent Wishes". ^_~)

But then, that's another topic altogether. I'm sure the 'Mother of Destruction' doesn't have anything to do with making them play nice. Not at all...

I think you just asked the million dollar question.
To begin with Miang was obviously manipulating Lacan. We even see one scene where she tricks Lacan into freeing her from Shevat by making him see her as Elly. Of course that was 500 years ago.

After Grahf's contact with the wave existence he would have almost certainly learned who Miang actually is and that she can't exactly be killed so taking his revenge out on her would have been somewhat pointless since he'd just be killing the host. In truth the only way she could die would be by eliminating every human being on the planet which is what he wanted to do. Perhaps that was one of the things which drove him to his lust for destruction.

I'm willing to bet that after becoming Grahf his relationship with Miang became more about using each other to further their own goals. They both saw each other as valuable resources they could exploit. Miang probably saw Grahf more as someone she could use as a weapon against anyone who got in her way much like she manipulated Ramsus. As for Grahf, he would have been able to keep tabs on what Miang was up to and how close she was to acheiving her objective of ressurecting Deus by keeping in contact with her.

Anyway thats my view
To put it simply they used each other

Yes totally useless ha ha chase after it
boy a love thats unattainable no matter
how hard you pursue it.

Saber she made herself look like EDlly to make Lacan feel guilty. Not to trick him into thinking she was her exactly.
