General Questions

- Who do I send my submission to?
First, see this important note. The submission address is at the bottom of this document.

- What information should I include with my submission?
Please include your name, your email, and the title of your story - that's the bare minimum, and all I ask that you tell us. If you would like to, you can also include the address for your homepage (if you have one), and it will be linked to on your author page. I cannot post a story that is missing one of those first three elements, however - they're important in terms of representing the story correctly and giving authors/artists proper credit for their work. If you're submitting a fanfic, including the Episode (game era) your story takes place in would be greatly appreciated.

- What if I don't want my address/email posted?
That's something you'll have to talk to me personally about, and we can work something out. Be sure to mention that in your submission, and I'll refrain from posting your work until we come to an agreement.

- Do I have to use my real name?
No, not at all. As long as you give us a name of your choice that you want to be known by, it doesn't matter to me. Just make sure you're clear about what you want to be called.

- How should I send my submission to you?
Email attachments are preferred. Most web mail sites have buttons or links to do this when you go to compose your message, and faqs for those who can't get it to work. If you have your own email program (Outlook Express, Eudora), there should be an icon of some sort - and if not, there's always the help menu. ^.^

Be sure to make your subject line descriptive. If I get something that looks like spam (or a virus), I'll delete it without even checking.

If you absolutely cannot send it as an attachment for whatever reason, try either uploading it to your (or a friend's) webspace, or, if you're submitting a fanfic, I can accept it in the body of the email if you send it in plain text. If you're worried about the integrity of your text effects (bold, italic, etc.) then see our notes on that.

- How should I name my file?
Your file name doesn't matter, as long as it's not something like, "Document.txt" - that's easy to lose. I'll be renaming everything anyway, so just make sure it's something that fits with your story/picture. Titles make good file names; character names and places do not.

- Will you ever remove my work from your site?
That depends entirely on the response I receive from my visitors. I rarely receive letters about anything outside of the sections dedicated to game content, and when I do, it's usually a complaint of some kind. Because they're so few and far between, my policy is to leave a story or piece of art alone unless I get ten complaints about it. In that event, I'll speak to the author/artist, and let them know why I'm removing their work.

This has never happened before, and I doubt it ever will. But it never hurts to be prepared.

Fan Fiction Questions

- What file formats can you accept?
Text, HTML, and Word Perfect are the only file types I can manage - plain text or HTML are preferred. Microsoft Word and all affiliated file types are impossible for me to even save because of a glitch in my email program, so files of that type will be deleted or returned with a request to resend, depending on how lazy I'm feeling at the moment. Zipped files are deleted as soon as we receive them, as a safety measure.

A warning: if you send me a Word Perfect or Works file, I will be using my program's "save as HTML" option to convert it, and there's a chance that will mess up your story's format. This is especially obvious in fanfics where scene breaks are not separated by some sort of marking (stars, dashes, whatever) - the program will simply interpret plain line breaks as one space, which can make a story very confusing.

- How do I get my story categorized?
If you think that your story fits into a certain category of our archive, feel free to include that information in your email. Listing it in more than one is fine, too. All fanfics are automatically listed in the appropriate Episode category - others will be determined by me if you don't add any additional requests. (See list of featured categories.)

- I hate plain text because I can't use italics (etc.).
If you're in a situation where you have to send your story to me in plain text (body of the email, lack of compatible programs), there are ways to preserve your document:

Use slashes "/" or dashes "-" to show italics, and underscores "_" to show bold.
Use HTML tags (without spaces) - < i > word < / i > for italics, < b > word < / b > for bold.

Be sure to separate your paragraphs with line breaks - if I can't tell where one paragraph ends and another begins, I'm going to post your story as one big block of text. It isn't my right to edit your story or determine it on my own.

- I have a multi-chapter story. Do I have to send it all at once?
No, you do not have to submit a finished multi-part story. But please remember that you sent something to us, if you want your story to be posted in installments. We've had a few people submit the first couple of parts of their story, and then forget that it was posted here - those fanfics are never finished, and we have no way of getting the new files. How much time it takes you to write the next part is up to you. Just remember that your story is here!

- What happens if I have a co-author? Do we both get credit?
We give credit to all authors, as long as we are given all of the information. When categorized by genre, the story will be listed under both names; when categorized by author, the story will appear in both seperate entries, with a note in the description informing visitors that the story was cowritten with another author.

Examples of this: Amethystine Dreams on Rune's author page, and my author page, and the entry on the Episode VI archive page.

- Do you accept hentai/graphic stories?
Yes, we do accept stories of this nature, and they will be marked with a warning in the archives. If you submit this type of story, please mention it in your email when you send it to us.

- Do you accept yaoi/yuri stories?
As with hentai and other graphic types of stories, we will post these with a warning in our archives. If you submit this sort of story to us, please let us know in your email when you send it to us.

Fan Art Questions

- What files can you accept?
I prefer to work with JPEG or GIF formats. Those are the easiest to send, and the file sizes are not nearly as big as bitmaps or other high-quality formats. If you would like to send your artwork in bitmap, PSD, or some other file type, please contact me first.

- How big can my files be?
Please try to keep your file sizes under 200K. Unlike most of the world, I still have to use a pathetic dial-up connection to get onto the internet, and anything bigger than that is hard to download and may be deleted by my filters before it even gets to me. If you absolutely can't get your file under 200K, contact me about it.

- How do I change my file type/make it smaller?
If you have an image program (Photoshop, Micrografx, Paint Shop Pro), there should be an option - usually under the "image" or "option" tabs that allows you to adjust the size of your image. Just look around, and you should be able to find it. To change your file type, try selecting "save as" under the file tab and looking through the pull-down menu beneath the entry for your file name.

- Am I allowed to send graphic artwork (hentai, gore)?
I do accept artwork of this nature, but it will be marked with a warning in the archive.

- Do you accept yaoi/yuri themed artwork?
Again, while I do accept artwork of this type, I will mark it with a warning when I put it in the archive.

- Can I choose my title?
Feel free. ^.^ Include the title with all of your information in the email, and it will be used in the archive. If you don't give me any special name or description, I'll just make something up while I'm posting it. You want to avoid that - I'm terrible with titles, so it's in your best interest to send one of your own.

Other Submissions

- Will you post my essay/letter?
Of course - that's what the Analysis section is for. I determine where it goes by what your content is: if your submission is just opinion, then it goes into the Letters section; if it's a deeper analysis, then it'll be posted under Essays. When you send these, please abide by the rules of submission for fanfics.

- Can I submit information for other sections?
I do accept information for various parts of the site (histories, characters, references, etc.), but when you send something of this nature, please cite your sources. I don't like posting stuff that just came from other sites, so to avoid that I'd like to know exactly where you're getting your information. If you don't have a source and you're just sending me something you think is better than what I have written, be ready to back up your claims. If I don't agree, I want to be convinced you're right before I post your submission.

In this case, you will be cited as a source on a separate page, which will be marked in the appropriate section. Every source is treated this way - it clutters up the content too much to have "Thanks to Jane for this information!" in every paragraph. I use a very bastardized version of the MLA format to do this, which can be seen in any of the sections listed above.

- How should I send reference submissions?
Sending these in the body of the email is fine unless they're really long - in that case, please send as a plain text attachment only. As these will be integrated into the site design, having to wade through someone else's code would make the process more tedious. When you send these to me, please include your source (if applicable). Or, if you can tell me where to find it (what Bible verse, history volume, etc.), that would be even better. ^.^

- How should I send my wallpaper submission?
Send wallpaper in the size you intend it to be downloaded in - it isn't my responsibility to edit that for you. The most common sizes are: 1024x760, 800x600, and 640x480. If you want it to be available in more than one, then please just send the file with the largest dimensions (1024x760 if you have all three, and on down the line), and tell me which sizes you'd like posted, so I can resize your wallpaper.

- How should I send my winamp skin?
Send winamp skins as you intend them to be posted, perferably in a zip file (the only time I'll accept anything in .zip format), with a screenshot of your file in use attached seperately, outside of the zip file, for display on Guardian Angels. If you do not have the capability to take or edit screenshots, please make a note of it in your email so I can take care of it.

Send all submissions to ga-submit@leamonde.net. I repeat: If your subject line is not very specific and descriptive, it will be deleted. I get too many false submissions these days.
